Dr. Rui Li

Rui Li, MD, PhD, is a research investigator at the Institute of Neuroscience, Fujian Medical University. He earned his MD from Harbin Medical University, China, in 2009 and completed his PhD training at McGill University, Canada, in 2015. He subsequently pursued postgraduate training at the University of Pennsylvania under the mentorship of Dr. Amit Bar-Or. Dr. Li then served as Scientific Director of the Center for Neuroinflammation and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Pennsylvania until 2022.

Dr. Li’s research focuses on the role of B cells in multiple sclerosis (MS). He identified a population of pro-inflammatory B cells involved in the pathogenesis of MS and elucidated the molecular mechanisms that govern the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory B cells in the context of the disease.
